I have been following the freelance writers in US and in European countries and I found that our western counterparts are better placed in terms of writing assignments. And not just assignments they are much better placed in terms of payments also.
I am not saying that we have dearth of topics to write on but we surely do have a dearth of takers. One major problem that we freelancers face in India is a lack of trust. We do not trust the publication who says that they can not pay us but still will accept our entries. They promise us a credit line but few months later we see our article published in some one else’s name and with some minor changes here and there and we can not do anything about it.
